Its been a hectic few months for us at Old Coast Studio. How is it almost July Already? Winter is certainly coming. Our Autumn started with a trip to sunny Melbourne. It was a trip that we rescheduled about 4 times in the previous 4 months due to border closures. Some how this time we managed to run the gauntlet and make it East without an issue.
It was an amazing trip, we were able to catch up with family and friends after a year and a half being apart. We also were able to get out and see some art at the National Gallery of Victoria. We saw their feature exhibition ‘Triennial’, a huge exhibit sprinkled throughout the gallery featuring emerging artists from around the world.
Our favourite part of the trip was the food without a doubt, we ate basically every cuisine Melbourne excels at, from dumplings to gelato to curry. We ate it all. And returned with food baby’s to prove it.
We returned from Melbourne full and inspired, and have pretty much had our head in the workshop/studio ever since. We’ve had the pleasure of working on some amazing projects. Jake just finished working on another Highland bull Sculpture called ‘Meeka’ for the Eagle Bay Olive Farm. And has just begun a big project that entails two bull sculptures based on the wagyu bread, which is still under construction. I have been busy in the studio working on a few new paintings, including a commission of a Robyn Red Belly.
We have some serious goals for for the second half of the year, with some huge changes coming to Old Coast Studio in the near future, both work wise and on the home front. In the coming months you will not find us at many markets, instead we will be focusing on taking our retail space at The Fuller Co Op from amazing to astronomically amazing, with some new pieces coming soon to the gallery. We also have some cool commissions in the diary over the next few months, such as a full scale Spanish bull that will certainly be a fun one to make.
Our calendar is quickly filling up over the next few months, so if you have a yearning for a custom made sculpture or wall piece, or would like us to custom make a gift for a special occasion, get in touch with us ASAP to ensure you don’t miss out.
Looking forward to updating you on our current projects, so stay tuned.
